Ra'anana Riding Club

Gabriella Hirschprung (Gabi)

I really, really love horses. I am born and raised in the Netherlands.

My passion for horses started when I was 8 years old and got regular riding lesson at the local stables.  The riding school I went to gave me a very classical continental background. The old classical principles of horse management, dressage and jumping to my opinion are the best.

I didn't have my own pony, so I rode many different and difficult ones in exchange for work in the stables, but that made me even more determent.

Riding so many also gave me a deep understanding of their diverse needs during training.

When I was 18 years old I teached horseback riding at "Camp "Lets" Edgewater, Maryland, USA.

After rising to Israel, I founded and manage Ra'anana Riding Club.

The harmony experienced sometimes, when working with or riding horses, brings about such a feeling of euphoria , that I make it my life work, to improve my partnership with horses and try to have others experience the same marvelous thing.

  • No rider ever stops learning, and the day they think they have is the day their standards will drop.

  • Every horse teaches me something, and I learn something from every rider that I teach.

I daily ride my 2 horses, Camelot a grey Arabian gelding and Supreme Geisha a bay Thoroughbred mare.

Favorite achievements:

  • The first cup I ever won,  I was eight years old. It was on a small black Shetland pony called Bobbie.

  • Buying my first horse, purebred Arabian Camelot.

  • Bringing up ex race horse Supreme Geisha, one of the most satisfying and fascinating project you can undertake is to produce a young horse.

  • Having my students competing.

Professional Education:

  • Riding Instructor and Teacher course.(Uri Peleg)  450 hrs. Wingate Institute, Israel.

  • English Instructor course. (Jacky Sherif) Canot (ministry of education, culture and sports) Israel (Attendee, about to get certification)

  • British Horse Society Lingfield correspondence course,: Equine care & Management Course. Level  1 UK

  • Medical First Aid. Wingate Institute, Israel

  • EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association).Part one and part two. Benjamina, Israel.

  • The Side Saddle Association (corporate member of the British Horse Society) Grade test Stage 1 and Stage 2

  • "dalet" and "gimel" certificate from the Israeli Equestrian Federation.

My Advice to newcomers:

  • Being prepared, is half the work:

  1. Learn on a experienced schoolmaster horse.

  2. Get the proper equipment right from the start; Safe and comfortable riding boots, gloves & riding helmet.

  3. Dedicated professional instructor.

  4. Controlled environment fenced arena.

  • Keep confident and safe: Always under-horse yourself. Leave that prancing, snorting, gorgeous young stallion alone for now.

  • Never agree to try an exercise that is outside your or your horses comfort zone.

  • Having a good secure, safe position is incredible important, I know you want to jump and gallop away, but restrain until you got your basics established.

  • Plug in your seat bones and sit up!
